Gymnastics Accomplishments:

Bethany began competing at the age of nine and has consistently qualified for state and regional competitions throughout her gymnastics career.  Over her competitive career, she has earned an abundance of awards and has earned numerous 1st place all-around awards.  She was level 4 state champion for level 4 at the age of 9 and took 2nd at level 5 at the age of 10.  Last year, she took third in the state on both bars and beam and 2nd in the region on beam. In 2010 at the Maryland State Championships, she place 2nd on vault and bars en route to 2nd place in the All Around.

 

Scholastic Accomplishments and non gymnastics extracurricular:

Bethany will graduate from Fort Hill High School in Cumberland, Maryland and carries a 3.86 GPA.  She was named WHAG Student Athlete of the Month for February 2010.  She is a member of the Fort Hill High School track team and was inducted into the National Honor Society.  She is an active leader in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and a member of Central Assembly of God Church.

 

Plans for next year:

Bethany plans to attend WVU and has been chosen to compete on the WVU gymnastics team as a walk on.

Laura takes all AP and Honors classes and has held the highest GPA in the Bullis class of 2010 for the past 6 years with an overall GPA of 98%.  She is the Vice President of the National Honor Society and is a member of the Bullis It’s Academic team.  In addition to gymnastics, she is a regular volunteer at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, where she helps wounded soldiers.  She also works at the National Institutes of Health researching treatments for spinal cord injury, which she became interested in through gymnastics.

 

Plans for next year:

Laura is currently undecided.  She has been accepted to MIT with a full Navy ROTC scholarship and also to the United States Naval Academy.  She is still waiting to hear from Harvard, Yale, Princeton, and Stanford.  In college, she plans to study Pre-Medicine while training to be an officer in the Navy, she also hopes to participate in collegiate gymnastics.
