Coaches Comments:

I remember when Emily walked through the doors of Twisters almost exactly six years ago. She had a ponytail sticking straight up on top of her head, and she wanted to “sign up” for the team. She showed me her forward roll and wanted to know if that was good enough to get her started as a Level 4. My response to her was “Are you a hard worker?” She said “Oh yes,” and so the story goes. Emily has been one of the hardest workers at Twisters ever since. He comes to practice daily, works hard, never complains, and now sets an example for many other youngsters with ponytails on top of their heads. Emily is a light throughout our gym and an icon, as many little ones look up to her. She sets the precedence very high. She is dedicated, she is smart, she is special, she makes Twisters a better place. She is everything all in one package. She is an outstanding member of USAG. And to think it all started with a forward roll and ponytail on top of her head. I am proud to be Emily’s coach.

What does your involvement in usa gymnastics mean to you:

Gymnastics to me is about dedication. When it was the last day of summer I had a decision to make; spend a beautiful day at the beach with my family and friends or go to the gym for six hours. I knew I had skills to work on, conditioning to do, and routines to try and perfect. It wasn’t a tough decision, I put on my leo, grabbed my grips, and went to the gym. Gymnastics is about commitment, not only to yourself, but to your family and coaches. I did go to the beach, but it was six hours later.
